Description

Shining Clough (rhymes with "duff") is a sombre, north-facing gritstone crag, high on the edge of Bleaklow, which has some great lines. A few dry days are required to get the rock into decent condition - even then many parts remain green. Because good conditions are rare, the crag can be quite busy at weekends when conditions are right.

Getting There

From parking at the west end of the Woodhead reservoir (off the A628), follow a good path alongside the lake for about half a mile, until a fence marking Open Country is passed. The crag is visible up on the right - strike uphill, following vague paths. About 45 minutes walk.
