Description

The bluffs along Kachemak Bay on your way outside of town are a great ice climbing destination during the darkest time of the year, mid December to mid January. All of the climbs are mostly south facing and if there is any sun whatsoever they start to melt quickly. Act fast to enjoy these easy to access climbs and you'll be rewarded with a very unusual experience-climbing ice at sea level, on a beach!

Getting There

Most of the climbs are accessed from Saltwater Drive. Park at the end and walk along the road back towards the highway, looking right for a path through the woods to a rappel point.
