Description

This is a very undeveloped area with multiple sandstone problems. The quality of rock is good. There is a lot of choss on the rocks in need of cleaning.

Getting There

From Durango, head north on Main St. and turn left on 25th which becomes Junction Creek Rd. Follow it for 5.1 miles, Stay on County Road 204, which is the left at the fork. The boulders are on the right side of the road about 1/4 mile up the road from the campground turn, park at the sign that says no more camping for 7 miles. The boulders are just down the hill on the right.

Oh, THOSE boulders, and a good job to you on the nice trail to them.

Above these boulders lies a series of small cliffs with cool chimneys, aretes, and a roof crack route called The Nasal Drip, 5.11a, put up by Parker and Miles Newby. It's a cool hands to off-width crack over the lip.

Great job working these boulders! Oct 3, 2011

A neat little area, and as Malcom and others can attest, this cliff band has some nice jumbled, slightly big blocky formations. Notably, the roof crack mentioned above, and further right a big chimney to the top. Someone should climb them again. Dec 1, 2011
These soft sandstone boulders were climbed over ten years ago. An excellent spot to hang, though the rock is really soft! Only one problem was named, as I recall, a V7 "The Cloudy Satchel".... Mar 8, 2012
