Named for the castle like rocks looking over the surrounding area. Castlegar is home to an abundance of quality crags with short approaches and a variety of styles and grades.

The Crows Nest Highway (Hwy 3) comes in west from Vancouver and the Okanagan, while Highway 3A comes in from Nelson to the east. There is also an airport with regular service to Vancouver (unreliable in winter).
