SLS Roof

Virginia > Southwest Virgi… > Grayson Highlan… > Listening Rock… > 2. SLS Area

Description

A fun roof with a GHSP Classic. This 12 foot horizontal roof is over a good landing and directly beside the trail with a 4 minute approach from the parking lot.

SlS Roof has edges, slots, and big beautiful pinches to travel across.

Nancey With An E is one of the best V7s in the park (The main right hand brick-pinch broke during summer 2022. The line now goes at V8-ish). If you like steep pinch & crimp roof climbing, you're looking at the right place.

Getting There

Walk past the overlook and onto the trail. pass the Overlook Area which spans down past The Hive Boulder and the tiny Foggy Mountain Fin. After the Fin, your basically out of the Overlook Area.

After Overlook, you will walk around a very tight left turn in the trail (30 seconds past the fin) and now you are in the SLS Area.

After the sharp turn, the next feature you will see is MOW, which is a massive double-decker boulder which looks like a huge mouth (use youre imagination... its a large patio boulder with an even larger, steeply inclined roof boulder on top of the patio).

Directly past MOW is another steep boulder which is Alcatraz. The very top nose of Alcatraz is touching the back of MOW. The steep dark overhanging face is where the Escape problems are located.

Stay on the trail as it turns right and the large boulder beside the trail is the Mike-N-Ike Boulder.

Past Mike and left more will be the Pit Boulder, and the the massive roof beyond this is SLS.

SLS is the massive roof that the trail passes directly infront of... Cant miss it!
