Power Line Boulder

Virginia > Central & South… > Charlottesville… > Mint Springs Park

Description

++pictures soon++

Worth the effort in hiking to this spot...spend a few hours here bouldering, eating lunch, enjoying the expansive views.

A solitary boulder about 2/3 up right-of-way.

Boulder is visible from park entrance near the apple orchard when first turn in.

Best access and time to use this boulder is fall/winter/early spring.

Getting There

Park in main parking lot and head up towards power lines via Big Survey Trail.

It's 1/2 mile to reach first trail juncture...there's a bench...head right on trail and continue up mountain with several switchbacks. When first reach power line access follow small footpath off main trail and then head up to boulder via power line clearing.

[Hide Comment] There's definitely potential for several great problems here but it will take some solid development before I would consider this boulder worth the hike. Currently both the boulder itself and the power line clearing leading up to it are completely overgrown, mainly by a variety of thorn bushes which make access a bit of a nightmare. May 13, 2021
