Upper Wall

Colorado > Grand County /… > Hurd Creek Crag

Description

This is another small section with 5 sport routes from 5.7 to 5.11. They are mostly overhanging with good holds, morning shade, and a luxurious belay area. Details are in "Fraser Valley Climbs".

L->R sport routes: ~5.10, 5.11, 5.10, 5.9, 5.7.

2022 update: it looks like the 5.10 on the left end of the wall is buried under a fallen tree, and there are two new bolted lines. Which yields:

L->R sport routes: 5.10 (blocked by tree), 5.11, 5.10, 5.11, 5.9, 5.7, 5.11 (approximate grades by the FA).

Getting There

This is uphill about 50 yards from SDM Wall.

[Hide Comment] There are five sport routes at the Upper Wall: L>R ~ 5.10, 5.11, 5.10, 5.9, 5.7. The leftmost route was added after Jim Shaw's book was published and follows a big arc from left to right, which makes it quite hard to clean while lowering. (If your second can't get up it, you get to climb it twice to get your draws back, as I did.) The 10 in the middle of the wall is highly recommended. The 9 and 7 are a bit funky. Oct 21, 2020
