[Hide Comment] Dave, I will pick up that guidebook for sure, I will be in Sun Valley in about a week. can you give me a sense of the range of routes and whether it's sport or trad? I saw you mentioned some sport, I can climb up through 11's but will have my kids as well who are more 8/9. I will look up Wolftone too and would love to hit City of Rocks, just a matter of how much driving I can do. Thanks, Scott T.

[Hide Comment] The guide "Idaho Underground" (available locally at the Elephant's Perch shop)includes Trail Creek and other area climbing.
The Trail Creek crag is on the Trail Creek summit Road, about 15 minutes from downtown Ketchum, up Sun Valley road (Trail Creek Road) past the SV village.
The "Angry Youth" crag is about 2 miles up Trail Creek past where the road turns to dirt on the right. There is a bigish turnout in the trees on the right just before the crag. This is a small but entertaining mini-crag with 3 engaging bolt routes - 10-.11
The scrappy looking "Muscle Beach"crag has a number of 5.10-5.13 routes, located across from a small rock knob (and parking spot) on the left. There are some 5.4-5.8 trad / top-rope climbs here as well.
[Hide Comment] just an update, they replaced the sign with all the gun shots in it. the bolts and hard gear are still in good shape on the few routs that I did. Fun sport climbs. Fun routs, doesn't take that long to get to. 7/28-31/2019.

[Hide Comment] There is bouldering near sun valley and it can be found in the Idaho Underground guidebook. I thought the lava tubes were infinitely better in every way. Better belay area, better climbing, better hardware, better rock. I probably wouldn't climb at muscle beach unless my partner were the exact same climbing ability because the belay stance is 4th/low 5th class choss.
