Rio Cangrejal Bouldering

A river in a steep valley, contains world class whitewater rafting and kayaking. A dirt road runs from the Saopin Bridge heading south into the mountains. Approximately 5 miles from La Ceiba, there begins to be river lodges to stay and pay for rafting trips and hiking trips. Omega Tours, Jungle River and La Moskita Ecotours are the three big ecotourism companies in La Ceiba. Omega is run by a german and has great german food and fun bar in the jungle, La moskita is run by a honduran with typical food and Jungle River is also run by a honduran not a lot of food but has beer, and the perfect base for river rock jumping. At the Jungle River site there is lots of fun water bouldering where the starts begin in the water and you must climb on smooth river rock. A beautiful place with Pico Bonito National Park on the other side of the river with it's high elevated peaks with dense jungle to add to the beauty. Further small villages can be found upriver, and again due to the force of the river there are boulders larger than houses and are smoother than silk scattered along the river.
