Description
Phil's Hill is a small 20-25 ft crag hidden in the forest off the "Railroad Grade" road/trail across from Marquette Mountain Ski Area. The rock provides nice steep crimpy climbing with fun moves. NOTE - The given ratings are for "on sight" top-rope ascents. Most of the routes are a bit beta-intensive and feel easier once you are familiar with the routes and holds.
Safety - The top sections of the crag can be very loose, so topping out is not recommended. There are no bolts and gear protection is minimal to non-existent for most routes. Top-rope anchors consist of small trees, some are 40 ft or more back from the edge. Use multiple anchors and be kind to the small trees.

Getting There
The crag is off the right side of Hwy 553 as you head south from town. When the leaves are out, the crag is not visible until you are standing at it's base. From Hwy 553, Make a right turn onto the railroad grade", a dirt trial/road that crosses the highway just before you drop down the hill to Marquette Mountain ski area. The condition of the "railroad grade" varies from year to year. Drive approx 0.3 mile or as far as you can and park along the side do not block the road or mountain bike trails. The obscure access trail to the crag skirts to the left of a depression on the north side of the road.
