Access Issue: Climbing Regulations/Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

This formation is the first formation that you encounter in the Near East. Its location is shown in the topo in Vogel's guidebook.

Getting There

Hike in past the turnoff for "Uncle Willie's" as if you are heading to the Stamp Mill. Continue to past the truck frame and use the first turn left and head in between the formations. In 800 yards or so you'll hit a foundation, the formation in front of you is Afro Blues. For the Northwest Face head through the trees right and around. The Northwest face is off to the left.
