Tucumcari Mountain - CLOSED

Warning Access Issue: PRIVATE LAND - CLOSED TO CLIMBING DetailsDrop down

Description

DO NOT CLIMB HERE. This area is on private land and closed to all public access. This information appears here for historical reference only. Climbing, or any other type of access to this area, is prohibited.

The mountain is largely undeveloped, but offers relative seclusion from locals and definitely other climbers. Been working to put up at least a half dozen of the best boulder problems from the mountain up here. The rock quality is sandstone and can be chossy, so be careful. The Eastern slope offers some harder rock. The prevailing winds usually come from the SW and can be really severe, especially if you are on the Western side of the Mountain.

**update**

I no longer live in Tucumcari but please do not hesitate to message me for access info or beta. Happy climbing!

[Hide Comment] Hello, everyone. Do not go there to hike or climb. This property is now owned by another owner for the past 6 years. I just hiked there today and the owner had words with me. He was extremely understanding and kind, but it definitely is off limits. I would like to thank the owner for not exercising his right to mess up my day for trespassing. Good people make this world. He also told me about an incident that someone asked permission to climb there, and even after being told no, he went anyway, got stuck somehow and had to be rescued. Respect this man's wishes and do not go there. Have a good day. Mar 10, 2024
