Description
This is a secluded shady area that deserves to be climbed more. Unfortunately, it does not see much traffic due to getting there and old school bolted routes with some new fixed protection.
The routes here are considered alpine and some gear placements may be required to protect moves between fixed protection.
The bolts on Fleas have been replaced as of 6/1/23
Getting There
This area can be accessed in 12-15 minutes from the boulder natural parking area.
Option 1:
Follow the North Mt. trail past the Yosemite Boulder. Cut in left towards the Chasm Crack boulder (a large Pine with white Blazes on both sides and a cairn mark the turn). Stay left of the boulder or go through the chasm. Follow a faint trail towards the next boulder(s) slightly uphill from Chasm Crack. Pass 5 spaced cairns as you make your way uphill through the woods to the base of the cliff.
Option 2:
The second option is to continue following the North Mt. trail to the top of Devils Den. There is cairn at the top marking the left hand turn. The approach is 20-25 minutes from the boulder natural parking area. Caution should be taken on the descent down the slab to the lookout. The cliff is directly below the lookout. You can hike off to the right and cut back left to the anchors on top of fleas or rappel from trees with a 70m rope to the base.
