Shredder Wall

Montana > Northwest Region > Rattler Gulch

Description

This wall has a variety of very high quality moderate routes, and is also close to other areas. A great area to head to after warming up on the sidewinder.

Getting There

From the main parking, down the road about 150 yds, then cut up the scree slope where it meets the wall on the road. After the scree you will find a trail that leads uphill to the climbs. It can also be accessed from the sidewinder area, by hiking up a little more and cutting left downhill. This will bring you too the otherside of the wall, try to follow the wandering trails down.

[Hide Comment] I believe there has been some development here, so if anyone has any beta on the new climbs let me know. Apr 22, 2011

[Hide Comment] For the shedder wall belay platform. - It's been stable for 15 years but one of the two trees holding it up is dead (it's about 50 feet high- 1.5 ft in dbh). Chris and I were talking about it and here is an idea. You have seen large trees rip out the root ball as they rot and fall. Part of the force has to be the weight up high. So if someone would cut the stem about 5 feet high it might anchor the belay platform for a bit longer. As is know in Msla I just the idea guy - we never say whether they are good or bad. Sep 22, 2022
