Description Suggest change

This wall is located above Lower Rock Creek which is a popular mountain bike and hiking trail. As you hike down from the parking area it is obvious why - its a lovely spot. The creek tumbles down at a fairly fast pace, and you are shaded from the sun by large pine trees.

Unfortunately the climbing isn't as good as the hike in, but the scenery makes a visit or two worthwhile.

The cliff faces south and gets very hot on sunny days. The rock is basalt like, and being black in color pics up the heat of the sun.

The few climbs currently recorded are long sport climbs, each having distinct sections. A slabby first half followed by a steep second half.

Getting There Suggest change

Heading south from Mammoth take the lower rock creek road, and af a mile or two park up at the large turn out just over the bridge on the right hand side.

From Bishop, turn left onto the Pine Creek Rd towards Rowana. Shortly after the turn turn right up the Rock Creek Road. After approx 10 miles park up on the left hand side just before the bridge over the Creek.
