Description [Suggest Change]

Nestled between the Santa Fe railroad tracks, the CalTrans station, and Interstate 80, this crag has a very urban feel to it. The climbs are short, chossy, and the rock tends to be covered in lichen. The routes are no longer than 25 feet. However, there are a couple of decent cracks for training and you are almost guaranteed to have the rock to yourself. This can be a good option if River Rock is too crowded/hot. Be sure to wave to the trains going by, sometimes they wave back!

Use small to medium cams and nuts to build toprope anchors.

The best times to climb here are the spring and the fall, though a warm winter day might work. Summer is probably too warm, except in the morning and evening.

There are many similar rock outcroppings in the area. Possible new route potential exists in the surrounding area.

Getting There [Suggest Change]

This is the rock seen from the highway with a kokopelli on top (don't blink). From Interstate 80, exit at Floriston. Head through the first tunnel by the CalTrans station and the crag will be immediately in front of you. There is a small grass covered parking area directly to the crag's east. RRR Crag is south of I-80.
