Description

Crag's Rd Crag's was first discovered by Greg Olsen and Kevin Thaw in the early 90's. a few drilled holes were found along with bolts. The tall formation known as the malibu Tower has Two bolts on top. if you continue past the Tower to the right are the Matt's boulders. from Matt's boulders look accross the river that's the wedge along with iceberg. malibou Tr wall is up near the power lines which are located near the dam. this Crag's rd crags rock climbing place has killer boulder problems, killer choss roots and lots of fishing to keep anybody busy. the back side of malibu is great!!

Getting There

From the private homes take Crags rd to lake Malibou Dam. From the front side of malibu go past the Mash site and make a right onto Lake malibou dam rd. Bouldering, Top-rope climbing and a few sport bolted roots can be found.

Malibu Lake was created in 1926, at the confluence of Media and Triunfo Creek, which forms Malibu Creek, by the construction of the 44 ft. Malibu Dam in 1923 by Bertram Lackey and George Wilson, who established the Malibou Lake Mountain Club, Ltd. Malibu Lake is surrounded by the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SMMNRA), Malibu Creek State Park (MCSP), and the Malibou Lake Mountain Club (MLMC). Regardless of the jurisdiction, heavy use of this area will definitely jeopardize access. A low profile and/or invisibility cloak may not be enough to save this area from access issues/closure, if the rangers are already aware of the area and requesting no new sport routes be added. FYI: seems that the rangers like to compliment rock climbing at malibu, however they don't want new routes being established? strange!

If I understand you correctly, did you mean to say:

"If bolting new routes in Malibu State Park is illegal, then why are the State Park rangers complimenting our new routes on this boulder?"

Seems silly to me, but hey today is April Fools Day.
