Drive In Wall

Iowa > Backbone SP > Top-Rope/Trad

Description

The Drive In Wall is the obvious cliff just off of the main road through the park. The wall is around 70' tall featuring a wide range of grades from 5.7 to 5.11. Some routes are top rope only but a couple of the cracks can be led on gear. Remember, bolting is not allowed in the park so don't do it!

Getting There

From the Six Pines campground drive down the park road to the first parking lot. The wall is South of the parking lot.

[Hide Comment] This wall is great, and one of my favorite places that I've climbed in Iowa. It's easy to get to, easy to get to the top, lots of good places to set Top-Rope anchors, and a great view on the entire wall! Jul 23, 2012

[Hide Comment] Parked outside the East gate (closed) on Saturday and walked to Drive-in Wall. Set up three top ropes and had a great time despite it being a bit cold. Will come back next time with longer static rope, which looks like would be helpful for a couple other routes. Apr 2, 2018
