Description
This area is fairly rugged for being so close to the road, (20 minutes). One of the big fires swept through here and the subsequent erosion and dead fall have made it a bit gnarly to get around.
Lots of lichen and loose rock to deal with if you stray too far from the original lines, but the routes have cleaned up fairly nicely.
Getting There
Park at San Pedro Vista and hike the Green Mt. Trail for approx. 10 minutes past 2 rocky ridges, (the 1st is Branching Out Crag.) You should be able to see the top of the western buttress from the trail. After the upward fork to the Upper Green Mt. trail, and about 100 feet after the 2nd rocky ridge, contour straight off east-ish, and a bit down, at the first switchback and head across the steep slope, then a slight diagonal up to the base of the western buttress. Follow ledge system around the left side to the next gully.
From here, head across the slope to the base of the eastern buttress or scramble straight up to the climbs on the Riddler Wall, which is the east face of the western buttress. (See overview and western buttress topo.)
