To my knowledge, Westmont College doesn't officially condone climbing on this boulder. Conversely, I'm not sure if they officially frown on it. In any case, tread quietly and be considerate.
Description
The rock on this boulder is reminiscent of Pine Mountain. While limited in quantity, this little stone vaunts some vicious lines and not a few quality moderates. One of the best single-boulder destinations around. It's under a tree, so the shade is nice, but the tree drips water after rain, so give it a few days to dry out.
Getting There
From the 101 South, exit Coast Village Road. Go left under the freeway. When you come to the roundabout, veer on to Hot Springs. At the stop-sign, turn left on Sycamore Canyon Dr. When you get to Cold Springs Road (there will be a fire station on your left and an Elementary School on your right), turn right. Take the upper entrance of the College. Find Emerson Residence Hall (it's at the highest point on campus), and the boulder is on the right-hand side of the building underneath a big oak tree.
