Cottonwood Beach

Wyoming > Fremont Canyon

Description

The area is mostly exposed and being in Wyoming, the weather can go from great one second and crappy the next, and the area is usually pretty windy. The area usually has a few people there, mainly there for the lake that this area borders. There will be more people closer to the water, and less people going further away from the water and up the small hill close by. The rock type is a mix of super crumbly red and white sandstone, limestone, and this really weird type of rock that is like something took a million little stones, and glued them all together with what looks to be something like concrete, but natural. Mostly bouldering and high balling. There is also a little bit of cliff diving/ deep water soloing. Lots of boulders yet to be established, SO GET OUT THERE AND CLAIM YOURS!

Getting There

From Mills go south south-west on sw wyoming blvd.(258). Then when you get to the inter section of 258 and cy avenue take a right or go south west on cy avenue(220). then when you get to county road 407 take a left. Co Rd 407 turns into cottonwood rd and kortes rd here and there on a map so, yes your still on the right road. you'll keep going south, south-west on this road till you see a sign for cottonwood beach and take the right there and just follow the road and your there.

[Hide Comment] The conglomorate rock here is definitely poor in quality, but with that said there are a few decent lines to be climbed here and there. 95% of the rock out here will just crumble under your body weight though... For better bouldering, head over to Brown's park on the other side of the lake(solid sandstone) May 13, 2018
