Getting weather forecast...
DescriptionDolomite rock like most other climbs in Iowa. Very crumbly/brittle in areas. Most of the rock that is lower has a good possibility of being caked with mud so be prepared.
The river, when deep enough, allows for MWS (muddy water soloing). Be careful of the undercurrents though. Other wise this area would be best suited for trad.
River level Details
Access will depend on river levels and currents
Registration required. Details
Register at the Ranger's office before climbing at Palisades Kepler State Park. The registration sign-up box is located outside the door to the ranger's office.
Getting ThereThe only way currently known is via boat. Drive in to Palisades and drive to the entrance of the main trail. Unload your equipment. The climbing area is directly across the river, The house at the top of the bluff with the copper colored roof is the marker, the climbing area is directly under that house. We believe the house belongs to the park (unsure though).
Paddle across the river, and anchor your boats or take a couple nuts or cams to anchor them to a wall.
