Pelham Tree Farm Boulders

New Hampshire > Merrimack Valley

Description

Saw these boulders in the winter and finally checked them out. Anyone climbed these before? Putting me and my friend as the FA's for now. Barely needed any scrubbing! There's one real good boulder with quality rock and 5 or 6 routes; one descent boulder with alright quality rock with (at least one) great problem. Potential on a few other boulders, a P'way Balance Boulder look alike with a mushroom looking traverse on top, not sure of the quality, would have tried it with a spotter to move the pad, if anyone's up for it let me know! Another potential but has a tree in front of the problem. Worth stopping by if your in the area.

Getting There

Take Mammoth Rd. (it's in a lot of towns) towards Pelham, right before you get to Dracut MA (from the north) take Sherburne Rd. on the right, again, from the north. About 200-300 yards on the right is a gate with a green and white sign that reads Tree Farm. Park in front of this gate. Try to go slow, even though the chance of a local riding your rear is pretty good, people go fast on this road. It's kind of hard to see since it's behind some shrubs till your right next to it. Walk into the "woods", you'll see when you get there.

[Hide Comment] Update on the boulders.... the boulder with cross my heart has split into like 5 pieces it looks like what was a good flake took off.. And most of both sides of the boulder have chipped off ... the giant flakes sticking out of the ground make it hard for a pad to be used and the only route there now is really not worth the time.. sad to say but this area should be marked as a bomb. It is pretty much a one or two short problem area...i love local spots like the many I've helped develop ..but this one should probably be over looked... not worth the ticks and thorns.. Oct 16, 2017
[Hide Comment] The boulder with cross my heart on it is 100% not broken. Not sure if you confused it with another boulder but as someone who is currently sitting in front of the boulder I can confirm it is totally good to go Sep 30, 2019

[Hide Comment] 2020 late winter and still standing in perfect shape great sends and sharp rock. There are two gates as well. It's the one closest to the intersection and not the gate right of the conservation area parking. It'll leave you aimlessly roaming the woods if you mess that up. Feb 23, 2020
[Hide Comment] Searched for about an hour and a half for this place and got lost in the woods multiple times. Could anyone provide more specific directions because I really want to try it out. Tried both gates and neither lead to anything. Jun 22, 2020
