The Stache (aka Dog Walk) Boulder

Wisconsin > Baraboo Range > Devil's Lake > Devil's Lake Bo… > W Bluff > W Bluff Central

Description

The Stache Boulder is a pretty cool new find. Thanks to Chris, Sarah and Aaron for finding it. An easy approach, perfect flat landing and cool features should make this a good stop on the circuit.

Getting There

From the Tumbled Rocks trail walk just past Pete's Pebble and go around the corner. There will be some small jumbled talus blocks in the trees. Go up there. After a minute or so there will be a faint trail to follow and after an easy 2 minute hike the boulder will be obvious and in plain view. One of the easier approaches on the West Bluff. The boulder is in the same field of trees as Dumpster and Black Sheep.

[Hide Comment] We had a good little session on this boulder yesterday and finished up both of the projects. Changed a few things and the name per The Gentlemans request.

Such a good boulder for DL!!! People need to get on this stuff! Easiest approach on the west bluff, perfect landing, cool holds and some nice moderate grades. Turns out it's a nice little summer boulder too. Yesterday was pretty perfect. Aug 8, 2010

[Hide Comment] Good way to find it is to hike straight up from behind the Tree-hugger boulder approx 100ft. Very cool addition to the area and easy to find. Sep 16, 2010

As of 2020 there is an approach trail directly behind the bench to the right of the Tree Hugger boulder. Bout 1 min up the hill. This rock is great for solo days. May 30, 2020
