Grazalema

International > Europe > Spain > Andalucia

Description

Generally south facing crags set in beautiful, rolling green hills strewn with boulders. There are some access issues, so stay on the trails, and don't walk through the private property below the crags. The rock is limestone of high quality, with steeeep routes, and slab routes. The moderate routes are the most crowded. The town of Grazalema sits on a hill, just above the crags, and has places to eat, and a grocery.

Getting There

Grazalema is in the provence of Cadiz, southwest portion of Spain, about 53 miles northwest of Malaga. There are a couple of crags above the town, but the majority of the crags are just below and to the south of Grazalema. The approaches are generally short, from 1-15 minutes walk.

[Hide Comment] This is sunny southern Spain, so climbing can be had year round, however summer temps can reach 100 degrees, so spring and fall are best. Jul 16, 2010
