Access Issue: Please Obey Speed Limits & Rim Rock Trail Closure Details

Rim Rock Trail at N. Table Mt. Park is closed Feb. through July 31 to protect raptor nesting territory and ground-nesting bird habitat.

It's likely few climber go there, but it may affect the adventurous.

Per Michelle Desrosiers: greetings, climbers. Jefferson County Parks and Open Space is implementing temporary closures on a few routes in this area to protect nesting raptors:

The following rock climbing routes in the North Quarry/Pinnacle Area are temporarily closed:

Unknown A, Wide Pride, Unknown B, Catching the Quarry, Burly Man, Unknown C, Boobalaty, Unknown D, and Cracking Up (route names from Fixed Pin Guidebook).

This closure is in place to minimize disturbance during the nesting season. We appreciate your cooperation in helping protect local wildlife. The routes will reopen once nesting activity has concluded. jeffco.us/1427/North-Table-….

Description

This entry includes west-facing cliffs much like the bulk of the North Table Mountain routes. These cliffs are to the west of the actual quarry and to the north of the more popular parts of North Table.

Getting There

Turn east off of CO-93 onto Pine Ridge Road, then turn left at Wyoming Circle. There is a parking lot here for the north trailhead. Follow the trail up to the base of the cliffs.

Mountain lion warning!

In April 2024, climbers had an encounter with a mountain lion. As they rounded the corner of the cliff below Corruption, talking at a normal volume, a huge mountain lion jumped out of the cave below Catching the Quarry Direct. The little cave below Catching the Quarry Direct may be a favorite hangout of the cat, being about 20 degrees cooler in there. A little concerning as well, as one climber scouted this area solo last week and didn’t see obvious signs of big cat. All in all be cautious, maybe be loud when walking up and bring some friends with you if you access the crag in the near future.
