DescriptionYou're moving up a steep crag of orange-gray limestone, clipping bolts above forests of Aleppo pine. The buzzing of les cigale (cicadas) ring in your ears as you peer back over treetops into the vineyards below. In the distance, the fishing village of Gruissan settles into the glassy Mediterranean sea, which itself melts into sky beyond.
Welcome to the Massif de la Clape, a relatively unknown jewel of a crag on a relatively unvisited stretch of French coastline. The massif has six distinct sectors offering sport routes from 5.8 to 5.12b.
Getting ThereMassif de la Clape is situated on the Mediterranean coastline southeast of Narbonne. The whole area belongs to the Languedoc-Rousillion district and is directly on the route from France to Spain (Barcelona).
From Narbonne take D32 toward Gruissan. See map below and check this topo
for further detail.
