Description

The Castillo d'Alaró is high and exposed hence it can be windy and cold. Most of the crags receive the sun at around mid-day although Sector del Medio stays in the shade for longer. It is worth remembering that tufas are formed by drainage streaks, which means that the face is usually wet after rain. This is often the case from September to November.

Getting There

From Alaró follow the road which is signed for 'Castillo de Alaró'. This soon turns into a twisting dirt track. Eventually the track arrives a restaurant/ lamb ranch.

For upper sectors, such as Paret de sa Porta, continue up the road to a higher lot from where a short walk reaches the Castillo Wall. *Note- the road to the upper lot is quite rough, but is walkable if you feel your car can't make it.

To access lower sectors del Medio, Chorreras and Kiko; from the restaurant, walk back down the road and pick up a good, signed path on the left that leads up the slope towards the crags and eventually meets a diagonal path next to a wall. At a hairpin-bend in the path, jump down over the wall and continue rightwards under the face. Pass a small gray slab and continue along some walls to a larger gray slab underneath the massive wall.

[Hide Comment] Everything about this crag made me smile. The super sketchy road up and the large number of routes with bad hardware almost didn't matter at all.

The routes, setting and vibe of this place are absolutely fantastic! "Buf!" and the cordero plate at Es Verger, not to mention the hike to the Alaro Castle ruins made this place my favorite Mallorca crag. Apr 30, 2017
