Description

This remote crag is way up a hill off the Boy Scout Trail from Indian Cove. It is easily seen in profile from the main highway, high up on a hill, and it resembles a turtles shell from that angle. The cliff is over 100' high, and has 2 routes on it; both are worth doing.

Getting There

Hike on the Boy Scout Trail out of Indian Cove for 20 to 30 minutes. After awhile , you will see some large crags on your right. As soon as you are at the end of these, and ready to leave the flat valley and head up towards the Wonderland, you will see a large hillside to your left, and up at the very top of the hillside, is The Iron Sausage. Hike and scramble for anothe 30 min. or so up to the formation.
