Description
Visitors to Gretna often overlook the Pulley area because its approach trail is difficult to find it and because it has a high concentration of easy problems. While none of this is necessarily false, there are still several reasons to check the area out including Deer Hunter (V2), Ninja (V2), Pulley (V7) and Shady Flake (V4/V7).
Getting There
Take trail beside nature center into the forest. At first three-way trail junction go Right. At second three-way junction go Right and head downhill a short way to a third three-way junction. Go Left and follow the white blazed trail past the Adjuster boulder and look for a coil of rusty cable stack on the Right side of the trail (if you reach the lower entrance to the Smiley access trail youve gone too far). From the cable, follow faint bushwhack trail into the wood and slightly downhill for 100 yards until you enter the Pulley area. The large Pulley boulder will be on your Right and the smaller Shady Flake boulder on your Left.
