Access Issue: Climbing Regulations/Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

This area includes the boulders at the base of the Rusty Wall and beyond. With the majority of any action going on in these parts taking place on Rusty Wall, this area of the park is more of a respite for those seeking solitude. There is also plenty of room for development as one moves further north away from the Rusty Wall.

Getting There

Take road past the Echo Rock area until it terminates at a gated turnaround for the Key's Ranch tour. Here, a small parking lot and restroom are found, with the main attraction to the area, the Rusty Wall, visible to the left. Take the path straight towards it but veer right ending a bit north or to the right of the Rusty Wall.
