Getting weather forecast...

Description

Leaning Tower is a large monolith found above Rainy Wednesday Tower and just southeast of The Tombstone on the CCC trail. There is no easy access to the top so TR's must be set by somebody who leads or solos the tower.

Getting There

Take a right at Pedestal Buttress on the CCC Trail and follow it around Darcy's Buttress, continue along trail for about a half-mile. It's large and in charge. Can't miss it.

Was up there a couple weeks ago and I don't think that eye bolt is dangerous, but it certainly isn't confidence inspiring. It wiggles a little bit, but that thing is huge and embedded way in the crack. I know people have been wiggling and trying to pull it for at least 30 years.

Just thread the rope and down climb the south face on a loose belay through it and don't lower off it. May 9, 2016
The bolt on top is loose, probably not safe anymore. Oct 18, 2015
me and a buddy just lead leaning tower on Sunday. it was a good area to learn to place protection and get the basics down for leading. plus there is a bolt on top that is in pretty good condition. so that was a nice find that wasn't in the guidebook. i would recommend leaning tower for anyone starting on leading there are good places to place protection, at least there was on the west and south side of the tower. a basic set of nuts should get you to the top. Jay can comment too, but I think it's reasonable to list this area under both the bouldering section and the route (non-bouldering) section, in case anyone misses it. Better duplicate information than missing information IMO. Post up the routes, Andy (or anyone else), or just leave a link to the other posting (like you did Paul). Feb 21, 2010

I know. I think this deserves a spot on the East Rampart page because, aside from quality bouldering, it also contains some quality routes that one might not neccesarily think could be classified as bouldering. Feb 20, 2010
