Description
A lovely somewhat out-of-the-way crag in Jeollanam-do (the province in SW Korea on the mainland). Easily accessed by public transport (you can walk from Gurye-gu Railroad Station), there are many quality routes, on-premise camping, and a friendly (if non-English speaking) restaurant-coffee-shop with cheap rooms for rent on premise. About 70 routes. Watch out for snakes, though. . . some are poisonous (not deadly) and climbers/hikers (at least 2 I know of) have been bitten.
Getting There
If you're driving, don't exit Highway 17 in Gurye (a sign will point out the train station), but this will bring you all the way through the city. Bypass Gurye and you'll start seeing signs for Suncheon. Just after kilometer marker 27 for Suncheon, a small exit right points out Yongseo Village (in Korean). Exit here, going east through a tunnel then left, then under a bridge and left, over a bridge to Yongseo Village. Stay straight to the orange clay Coffeeshop and Garden.
