Description

This portion of the Short Wall extends from Linda's Crack near the center of the wall rightwards to Out of Step at the right edge of the formation. Although none of the routes here are standouts it's still a fun place to visit and rack up some mileage.

This is just a "cautionary note." My partner and I were both coming back from illnesses/injuries this past weekend and decided to do some Short Wall routes to help us regain some feel for the rock and regain confidence; my compadre calls down while setting up a TR: "What do rattlesnakes look like?!" There were 3 of the buggers up there, all nestled in the horizontals normally used for anchoring the topropes.

They didn't really get aggressive and interfere with our activities, but THEY ARE THERE! We stayed about 15 feet away belaying.

Added in an edit: I did a Google search for pictures; these are not Mojave Rattlesnakes, especially venomous with a dangerous neurotoxic component to the venom. Also known as Rock Rattlesnakes. Apr 5, 2011
