The Islands

Alabama > Sand Rock

Description

The Islands are a collection of prominent formations at the extreme southwest end of Sand Rock, past the Pinnacle and Holiday Block. When walking from the Holiday Block there is a short 30 ft slabby section with bolted routes and then it opens up to some really tall climbs maybe around 100 ft. The top of this area can be accessed by following the trail to the right before reaching the short slabs. This will bring you to a corridor where you can climb some easy sections to reach a ledge and then climb through a short chimney to reach the top. There are several bolts at the top you can clip into to help make things safe.

[Hide Comment] I've updated the order. Thanks. Feb 9, 2016
[Hide Comment] Since we were a little confused on our first visit to this wall, I thought I'd add further clarification. The first set of short slabby routes:
Thin's Bottom Bitch 8
Thin's Daddy 12b
Thin's Evil Twin 11c
Julory 8
The Peanut 12c

Taller formation:
Little Bastard 12a
Little Jerk 11c/d
Flies in the Vaseline 11a/b

These two are side by side.
Snuff the Rooster 10d PG13
Fake Plastic Trees 11c

These two are bit further down from the others. Shrimp Dude 10a is the newest route (but sits in between the older routes). It shares the same first bolt with RIP but trends right after the first bolt.
