Description

The ox rock, or ox head as it is sometimes called, is a moss covered mass of granite north of Passau. While it has been developed, it sees less traffic due to the mossy nature of the crag. The Ox Head makes up for it by having fun features, with beautiful surroundings. There are twelve established routes, of which eleven are bolted, and range up to 5.10a
Here are the topos from Hermann Froidl, 1994. kleimbing.de/Gebiete/Ochsen…

Getting There

Take the B12 North out of Passau toward Waldkirchen, take the exit to Waldkirchen. Just before you get to Waldkirchen, there will be a traffic circle, take the exit toward Hauzenberg. After about a kilometer, you will see on the left side of the road, an off cut that goes to a former guest house called Saussbachmühle. You may park near the main road either several hundred meters before the guest house and the bridge, or several hundred meters after. Hike down the old wagon road just south of the Saussbachmühle. You will pass an open meadow to your left. Then take the obvious forest path to the "Ox Rock."
