Routes in Greenwood Park

Description

Excellent little area to spend a few hours bouldering at. Great flat landings all around and an easy access just right off of 22nd and Moody in North Vancouver. Rock type is most likely granite but I'm not 100%. This area used to be a quarry and left some fun boulder problems.

Getting There

Type in greenwood park or 22nd and Moody into google maps and you should be able to find it. Very close to the highway by Lynn Valley, North Vancouver.

As of January 2015, the main quarry face was clean of graffiti though still lots of broken glass here and there, some garbage, but hey, it's a suburban setting. Above the right and centre main face there are two pairs of hangars in good shape, also another set on the wall to the left and perpendicular to this, up in the trees. Maybe the scouts have been here??? Apr 10, 2015

Dru & Rolf, no doubt the majority of these lines have been climbed ages ago by whoever without record, but just to clear, the short walls, or clifflets that are best accessed off 22nd and Moody are not to be confused with the ugly, open quarry that is usually a bomb site of grafitti and garbage. These days some folks are using the three bolt stations in the quarry as top-rope dry-tooling practise, which isnt such a bad idea sine the quarry is useless for much else. But the forested clifflets provide a nicer pure bouldering experience, similar to the short cliffs at Cypress Falls. Mar 31, 2014

John Howe did a lot of those problems back in the 70' s when he lived nearby. I've also been bouldering there since 1983. Most problems up to V2+ have been previously done, and before the use of pads. Dec 25, 2012

People have been climbing regularly at this quarry since the late 1960s. You may accordingly want to rethink your claim of newly established problems or first ascents here, especially in the lower grades... and be wary of applying your own names to long-established problems too. Oct 16, 2009
