DescriptionLocated in the beautiful Aoudad Valley, Mushroom boulder is probably the best the canyon has to offer for a variety of reasons. Though not the most easily accessed, Mushroom offers a secluded getaway out of view from the road. The rock on Mushroom is very hard and some of the best in the canyon. Several routes of varying difficulty make it a great place for groups of all ability levels. While the almost treeless valley allows even the most novice photographer some spectacular opportunities as well.
Climbing Access Open - Keep a low profile. Details
Climbing in the canyon is legal, but please maintain a low profile. Please leave no trace to minimize the chances of the park closing to climbers.
Getting ThereNote, this is a very difficult area to find if you haven't been shown in person
From the Boulder Gardens parking area.
Walk up the left side of the road for about 100ft looking for a small but definite trail that cuts through the brush.
Follow this trail over a small ridge and into a valley riddled with boulders. Continue up the valley keeping to the left and boulder hopping when necessary until it opens up. If it opens onto a treeless valley lots of grass and a large boulder perched on top of a pile of dirt, congratulations you've arrived. But if you come to a point on top of a small canyon close to the Yogi boulder then you've close but not yet there. While viewing said canyon, look to your left. See that steep ridge? Mushroom boulder is on the other side of that. So work your way around and there you are.
