Description-The boarder line between Virginia and West Virginia is blurred and confusing. I will post all problems and routes that i find in the Virginia page under this same name. if you visit this area, I kindly ask you to do the same to avoid messy confusion-
(So, I will assume since this post has been up here for a while now, that no one will mind me claiming the first ascents here...)
The sandstone bouldering here is fantastic. with almost no approach time to speak of, a well maintained trail to walk on, and a view and with a drink machine nearby, you have everything you need to have a great bouldering session.
Also, the picnic tables conveniently placed within a stones throw from the blocks is a nice touch. a unique feature to the boarder boulders is the dilapidated, destroyed, vacant building about 50 meters down the road from the parking lot. to the right of this is a smaller structure that is standing in about the same state of disrepair. this structure is build ontop of an overhanging boulder, and uses the boulder as structural support. the way the building is designed, you can actually climb what looks to be about a (v-3) boulder problem from inside of the building (from the sit start), out of the door, and then top out outside of the building!
the main boulder area consists of around 10 large boulders with everything from mega features on vertical faces to overhanging roofs with nothing but finger tip crimps to pull through. the slopers here are fantastic with unreal cool weather friction.
