Quebrada Llaca

International > S America > Peru > Cordillera Blanca

Description

Quebrada Llaca is the leftmost of four obvious quebradas ("gaps" or "canyons" in Spanish) in the Cordillera Blanca as seen from the city of Huaraz. It is a high altitude climbing area in Huascarán National Park which is home to multi-pitch sport routes like "Misión Lunática", multi-pitch trad on "La Brichera" and bouldering at the Llaca Boulders.

The rock is granite, and in the dry season (May-September) the valley gets sun for most of the day.

Getting There

From Huaraz: The easiest way to reach Llaca is to catch a taxi asking if they go to "Llaca". The ride should cost anywhere between 80 and 100 soles (US $25-$33). Entrance into Huascarán National Park costs "30 soles for a day pass and 150 soles for a month" (from user Dan Koepke (2025)).
