Description Suggest change

THE beginners crag of Cedar City. The Cone is a cone shaped formation which has 3 routes on it. It sharp welded tuff which makes for great smearing. According to Todd Goss's book it was developed by Bob Draney in 1995.

The highway traffic presents a challenge to effective communication, but it's not too bad.

As of July 2020 bomber bolts are available on the climbs facing the road and at the top. This is a pretty good place to bring kids. There is some shade available. The climbs are short (50 feet or so) and accessible to beginners. The 5.6 is a four bolt sport climb which feels safe up to the last move where you have to mantle onto the point of the cone. The easy and short approach makes it attractive for little people. You could run two top ropes if you wanted without much difficulty.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive on 200 north heading west out of Cedar City. 200 north becomes Highway 56 and keep driving until you pass Mile marker 49, the pullout is about 200 yards past MM 49. It's the cone shaped formation on the right side of the road.

The approach is a 30, no, 45 second walk on a well trodden trail.
