Description

There is good bouldering on the two bridge pillars of the Pacific street bridge in this park. They make good traverses just looping around a single pillar for endurance. Top rope set up is hazardous b/c you must deal with exposed concrete edges and annoying neighbors who will call the police (but they have never bother me for bouldering).

Getting There

Park either at the entrance to the park or on Pacific street.

This is a great spot to get a in quick workout. The bouldering traverses are nice and pumpy, though watch for broken glass on the edges. I spent many afternoons here, traversing around and around the pillars. Mar 12, 2014

Checked out this spot today and I was impressed by the walls. The stone is real good and even has some pockets. Definitely will be back and run a few laps around the pillars. Sep 29, 2013

I have run into a single cop (last summer). We explained we were just doing low traverses and he was okay with it ... So, no worries if you're just there to traverse.

Trying to see how many laps I could do really got me into a somewhat respectable climbing shape. If you're a beginner/looking to just pump yourself out - This place is entirely worthwhile. I usually stuck to the northern pillar (southern can be a little on the dirty side and less sunlight in the afternoon) Aug 4, 2009
