Access Issue: Private Property
Details
Access to this climbing area passes through private property near the canal. Climbing access remains open but keep a low profile.
Description
This area has fun bouldering. What these boulders lack in quantity, they make up for in quality. There are several great problems on good stone. It is good almost year round.
Getting There
Take the New Castle exit (#105) off I-70, and head north into town. Go straight through the four-way intersection, and follow this street through residential areas until it intersects with County Road 245 at a T intersection. A few miles outside of town, take a right on County Road 241 (East Elk Creek). You'll also see signs for a KOA. There is a parking pullout 0.3 mile up the road on the right. Hike back the way you came until you see a faint trail heading uphill, directly across from a driveway with a metal gate. You can also park on the left side of the road before the trail, but please don't park in the driveway, it's private property. Follow the trail as it cuts to the right and follows a small water pipe. At a cement foundation for a canal leading to a pipe, head uphill to the boulders.
