Description

Hlubocepy is Prague's urban crag. It consists of two pointed limestone buttresses, each about 80' tall, and features about 40 sport, trad, and mixed routes of all grades. The rock is quite slick, but the climbing is slabby and interesting, and the bolt spacing often creates excitement. No destination, but a fine spot to check out of an afternoon.

Getting There

The area is located to the south of town, on the west side of the Vltava River. Trams 12, 13, 14, and 20 go south from the castle/ Charles Bridge area. The shortest way from the tram is to get off at Zlichov and follow the tram tracks further until you see a road on the right going under a bridge. Follow the road up through a neighborhood until you see train tracks. Follow these left (away from river) until you arrive at the crag. Approach distance: .5 mile. Alternatively, you can get of at the next tram stop, Hlubocepy, and follow a more appealing trail from behind the station over a hill and into the neighborhood below the crag. This way is farther and it is easier to get lost, but it is more scenic.
