Description

Arrow Canyon is a two hundred foot deep box canyon located 45 minutes northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The canyon is home to various species of desert wildlife, petroglyphs, and horrendous flash floods. The BLM maintains the land which means you as a public citizen own it too. Take care when visiting the canyon to ensure future visits for years to come. Also keep in mind that Arrow Canyon is a designated Wilderness Area. That, in particular, means no bolting and no motor vehicles.

Getting There

This is Mr. Brady's and the BLM's prefered access to Arrow Canyon. From Exit 90 on I-15 North, drive exactly 11 miles west on 168. You will pass three roads along the way (on the left) called Warm Springs. At 11 miles (.2 miles past the last Warm Springs road) you will turn left onto dirt road with a sign saying The Brady's. This left turn is right as 168 starts to curve right. Drive .5 miles past The Brady's house to a rectangular fenced area with a building in it. Just in front of the fenced area a rough dirt road skirts the right side of the fenced area. Follow this rough dirt road 1 mile to wilderness fence and park. Walk 20-30 minutes into Arrow canyon. The road is rough but we made it in with a subaru outback wagon (the beginning was the tricky spot). Good to have a 4x4 or high clearance.

If I don't have high enough clearance to get around the rough spot at the final turn off (and assuming I'm willing to walk the extra mile to the canyon), is there a place to park that won't offend anyone? Feb 24, 2012

I was wondering if camping is allowed as well Oct 25, 2013

Isn't it always okay to camp on BLM land unless otherwise noted? Nov 21, 2013

Pretty sure that La Reve is across from the Swamp Cave, but I am not 100% sure of that. Jan 22, 2015
I have family in Moapa, going to visit this area soon, though I'm still working on my sport climbing confidence on anything over 10--as I'm working on my confidence on this--can any of these 11's 12's be top roped walking up and above the wash? Sep 6, 2015

We found an ascender at Swamp Cave a couple of days ago. DM me with a description and we'll get it back to you! :) Feb 8, 2017
The BLM page for Arrow Canyon has been taken off line. The fact sheet is still available though at this link: blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/files… Jan 17, 2018
We drove the road today up to the BLM fence in our Toyota Tundra with a pop up camper on it. We made it there and back just fine (lost some paint on the way) but won’t be doing it again- the road was in pretty bad shape. High clearance vehicles with four wheel drive are a definite must. Looked like you could park just after the Utility building in the pullout where there is a trail map and just hike the extra mile in. If you do drive in all the way the parking lot by the fence to enter the canyon is very flat with plenty of space. Feb 12, 2018

From the fact sheet ClimbOn Maps posted "Rock climbing in Arrow Canyon varies from vertical to overhanging cave features with
grades from 5.8 to hard 5.12, with the majority of 5.11 routes found on the vertical walls and 5.12 routes in two caves. While rock climbing is allowed, installation of permanent fixed anchors is prohibited."
What? This is a sport climbing crag. How can there not be permanent fixed anchors? Short of every route being a walk-off top-out, this statement makes no sense to me. Never mind that each bolt is essentially permanently fixed. Feb 16, 2018

Yes, Karl, Arrow Canyon is a bolted sport crag. What the BLM is trying to say is that the creation of new routes with new bolts is not allowed. Feb 17, 2018
