DescriptionHanging on the hill above the Puoux, the Super Puoux offers routes ranging from 5.10 to 5.13+ with unfinished projects suspected to be 5.14 or harder. The limestone varies in quality from fractured choss to reasonably solid stone. Since very few people climb here, the routes are still cleaning up so expect a lot of rockfall, and a good amount of silt on most of the routes. In general, expect very fun, but semi-dirty, adventurous sport climbs.
The Super Puoux is South-facing and high on the hill, making it an ideal winter crag, if the approach isn't too snowy or icy.
Getting TherePark at the big pullout for the Puoux and walk along the trail until you see a faint trail leading into the trees and up the hill. The trail will remain faint but obvious the entire way. You should be to the right of the crag until the very end of the approach, at which point you cut across the hill to the base of the crag. At certain points you will be scrambling up rock outcrops, and other times you will be scrambling up scree slopes. There are small kairns at times, just stay to the right, look for footprints and erosion, and if it feels really hard you are probably on the right track. The approach is super strenuous and takes about an hour. Good luck!
