Description [Suggest Change]
This valley gives access to a variety of peaks with routes ranging from the relatively easy to the very difficult. Peaks range from the 5460m Yanapaccha to the big boy Huascaran Norte at 6664m. A good place to warm up or test your mettle. Every peak in this valley is a worthwhile objective. The base camp at the trailhead has a small hut run by locals where you can buy toilet paper, chocolate, and beer (what else do you need?). There is a refugio located in the meadow camp below Pisco and the Huandoys. Bring what you need if climbing Yanapaccha.
Getting There [Suggest Change]
Either arrange transportation directly from Huaraz to the trailhead (expensive but no hassle) or take a colectivo to Yungay. From there take another colectivo or alternate transport to the Pisco basecamp above the 2nd lake (km 77). You will stop at the entrance to the park and register and pay a fee. For more detailed beta check out Brad Johnson's guide, which you should really get anyway if you're headed to the cordillera's.
