Description
A short crag with a few good climbs. This crag is typically shaded and makes for a nice summer crag when the days are longer. The approach is somewhat longer than other cliffs in the area.
Long static or webbing for anchors is recommended. Please remember never to rap directly off trees. And when pulling ropes/webbing around trees try to make sure you're not wearing away the bark.
Getting There
From Waterbury: I-84 East to Exit 37 (Fieneman Rd.), make a left at end of ramp. At second light, turn left onto Rt. 6 (Colt Highway). In one mile, you will pass the Tilcon quarry on the left and the road will turn right, downhill. In another 0.3 mile you will see a parking area on the left.
From Hartford: I-84 West to Exit 38 (Rt. 6 Bristol), go straight through light at bottom of ramp. In 1.7 miles, you will pass the Tilcon quarry on the left and the road will turn right and go downhill. In another 0.3 mile, park in the parking area on the left.
Follow the short access trail from the parking area to the blue-blazed Metacomet Trail. Head up the trail (south). You will encounter Porcupine Hole (on right) in 15 mins, Green Wall (on right) in 20 mins, Will Warren's Den in 25 mins., and the top of Rattlesnake Rock in 27 mins. The beginning of the trail can be quite muddy. If you reach the radio tower anchor, you've gone a bit too far.
