Description

This is a really cool National Monument and should still be protected like it is. This must be the LAND of 1000 SPIRES.

The "Totum Pole" is 137 feet tall and about 3' in diameter.

This place is simply amazing, even just to hike. May 26, 2017
Contact Paul Davidson. He did stuff with Peter Noebels down there. We have walked around down there but the rock is pretty bad. I think if you put in some real effort you could ferret out some good rock and some good climbing. Apr 18, 2011
What about the rest of the Chiricahua Mts? Loads of great looking rock near Portal, AZ on Coronado NF land. Anybody know of established routes? Apr 18, 2011

Apparently there was a study done that showed climbing promoted rock fall. Page 12 and 13 nature.nps.gov/geology/inve… Aug 22, 2010

Bouldering at the top of the main drag, though still not allowed, is pretty fun... May 28, 2010

The place is incredible, but climbing is not allowed. I'm curious if anyone knows why not? You can climb in other national monuments (ex. Devil's Tower) Sep 23, 2008
