Access Issue: Climbing Regulations/Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

The Joshua Tree National Park Superintendent's Compendium states that:
1. Vegetation is not allowed to be used as an anchor.
2. Only neutral or rock colored bolt hangers are allowed.

Description

This small area just east of Ryan Campground is home to a good collection of crack and face routes on variable quality rock.

Approaches are fairly easy and yet often enough to escape the crowds closer to the road.

Getting There

Park in a large paved turnout midway between Ryan Campground and Hall of Horrors/Saddle Rocks.

A signed trail leads to Target Rock and then branches - right for Conrad Rock and straight ahead for The Oyster Bar, Agent Orange Rock and The Asylum.

Approach times vary from 10 - 20 minutes from the closest parking area.
